An Artist's Process Bluecadet, National Museum of Wildlife Art

The National Museum of Western Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming wanted a digital kiosk and web experience that captured the vibrancy and detail characteristic of one of the most celebrated painters of the American West: Robert Lougheed. 

Our task at Bluecadet was to deliver an immersive exploration of Lougheed’s life, his artistic process, and his body of work.

We settled on a design strategy that mirrored Lougheed’s belief in the importance of the environment in artistic creation. We wanted to give visitors a virtual experience akin to exploring an art gallery in the field.

The content was organized into micro-narratives guiding visitors through Lougheed’s biography, process, and work. We invested heavily in wireframing and storyboarding to ensure a seamless flow from one page to another, maintaining the narrative coherence.

The motion strategy centered on supporting the overarching story of Lougheed’s artistic journey. It defined smooth and intuitive transitions between different sections, maintaining the site’s feeling of flow and exploration.

We developed dynamic photo galleries and an interactive biography and timeline. These elements were designed to engage users in Lougheed’s world, providing a deep dive into his artistic approach and creations.

Thoughtful interaction design and information architecture can be leveraged to create a meaningful and immersive digital experience, successfully translating the essence of an artist’s philosophy and work into an engaging online format.

The final outcome was a website that not only showcased Robert Lougheed’s art and philosophy but also provided an engaging and educational experience for visitors. The site's design and interaction facilitated a deeper understanding and appreciation of Lougheed’s work.
